I’m a big fan of hoppy IPA’s and there’s no shortage of them coming from both here and abroad. With brewers pushing the boundaries of hop induced flavours and aromas, it makes for rewarding times for craft beer drinkers. Coming from the stables of Black Dog Brewery is Leader of the Pack which is one of these IPA’s that has a decent hit of hops built into it.
It’s colour is a dark amber with a healthy foamy beige head that lasts the whole beer out. The variety of hops used gives the beer a multitude of aromas – pine and fruity citrus that standout. The flavours are quite rich with lingering caramel malts and fruits with a bitter taste.
Overall it is a well balanced, medium bodied, hoppy brew that ticks a lot of boxes for me!
