Clown Shoes is renowned for its great artwork and wacky names for their beers but this one here saw them being sued for trademark infringements. Originally called ‘Vampire Slayer’, it seemed that another beverage company saw that it was a little to close to the name of their beer. Anyhow a long story short, Clown Shoes lost out and renamed their stout “Undead Party Crasher” and brewed with holy water. The bottles label artwork gets the last laugh with the blatant dig at the lawsuit showing a Vampire Slayer battling monsters including a werewolf dressed as a trademark attorney!
Now for the stout! This beer is pitch black in the glass with a creamy brown head leaving a healthy tar like lacing on the glass. The aromas are rich and sweet, roasted dark malts, chocolate, caramels and a slight smokiness. Plenty of flavours coming out in this beer including dark chocolate, caramels, coffee and a more evident smoked flavour then in the aroma. It has a creamy warm mouthfeel with a reasonable kick of alcohol.
It’s a great boozy complex beer full of flavour and aroma, and a 650ml bottle of this slow drinker gives a chance to get a good feel for this beer!
