Melbourne Craft Beerscapade
I took the opportunity back in September to go on a Craft Beerscapade to Melbourne for 5 days, as those that breeze over Craft Beerscapade on Facebook and Instagram would know. The main mission was to venture to a few of the more notable Craft Beer Bars and Breweries in Melbourne, which were either a short stroll or tram ride away.
I had plans on where I wanted to go, but nothing set in concrete regarding how or when I was going where! It’d been many, many years since I’d been to Melbourne and never actually stayed in the city itself. We had flown into Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon then taxied it to a motel, across the creek from Crown Casino, for what would be home base for the next 4 nights.

It’s been a long time between beer reviews, with a few things
Birra del Borgo Duchessa
that have happen recently I’ve enjoyed drinking beer more than writing about it! Anyhow, this is one of many i have in my craft beer fridge that has been there for a while waiting to be drunk – Birra Del Borgo’s Duchessa.
This Saison pours a hazy golden Continue Reading
Six String Brewing Co – Dark Red IPA
Beers come from a can, they where put there by a man! Would be a good line to a song, but unfortunately already taken by a peach! Seems to be a growing trend with craft brewers in recent times to can their beers, which Six String Brewing Co have done with their entire core beer range. Finally now we are seeing their range make its way north of the border from this Central Coast brewery. Continue Reading
Clown Shoes – Undead Party Crasher Imperial Stout
Clown Shoes is renowned for its great artwork and wacky names for their beers but this one here saw them being sued for trademark infringements. Originally called ‘Vampire Slayer’, it seemed that another beverage company saw that it was a little to close to the name of their beer. Anyhow a long story short, Clown Shoes lost out and renamed their stout “Undead Party Crasher” and brewed with holy water. The bottles label artwork gets the last Continue Reading
Matilda Bay – Ruby Tuesday
I picked this bottle up a few weeks ago from Matilda Bay Brewery as they had just released it in bottle form. I’ve have had it a few times as a draught and didn’t mind it and obviously the brewery had a good response hence a new addition to their bottle range.
Pours a clear reddish amber colour with a Continue Reading
Beard and Brau – Red Tail
Beard And Brau Brewery is another SE Queensland brewery (originally from SA) based at Tamborine (becoming a popular area for Brewers). On a recent return trip from a footy game we dropped into the Bearded Dragon and had a recovery session on the Beard and Brau beers on tap there! On departure we rattled the bars on the drive-through and grabbed a carton of Red Tail for the trip home (yes Bearded Dragon i was sober enough to remember that you Continue Reading
Bridge Road / Nøgne Ø – India Saison
The description straight form the bottle says – India Saison is the hoppy, crisp and refreshing result of a north south collaboration between Norwegian craft brewery Nøgne Ø & Bridge Road Brewers. A specialty Saison yeast strain and Australian Galaxy and Stella hop varieties have been used in crafting this beer.
So this collab seems to have a mix of Continue Reading
