Sierra Nevada Porter
This porter comes from US brewery, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co, that was born about the same time I was, so they must be doing something right based on that and there availability of their brews, even here in Oz.
The colour is dark, almost opaque but there is a slight red hue of colour that filters through. Head is beige and drops of to a fine lacing.A nice smell of chocolate and caramel roasted malts coming through and slight hint of coffee. More of a sweet caramel flavour in the taste however there smokey chocolate aftertaste.
Hargreaves Hill – Pale Ale
In the glass the beer is a hazy golden colour, well carbonated, with a healthy white head. Bottle conditioned so I does “contain traces of sediment”. Fruity aroma – passion fruit, pineapple, hints of honey – sweet smelling. Flavour wise it continues with the fruit, earthy malt tastes and the use of the hops gives it a decent bitterness .
Easy drinking beer, ideal summer session beer.
