Over 100 events at over 60 venues celebrating the people, the places and the pints that make up Brisbane’s beer community. Head to the website for more updates on events, the venue map, competitions and one hell of a launch party.
Brewsvegas is a grass roots, community minded celebration of Brisbane’s burgeoning craft beer culture set to run from the 22nd to the 29th of March, 2015. We aim to promote innovation, creativity and collaboration to help nurture and grow a local beer scene already replete with passionate contributors.
The inaugural Brewsvegas in 2014 saw 40 venues stage 90 events through the week, displaying fantastic creativity, passion and individuality. In the year since, many new venues and events have sprung into being and action; to spread the good word and champion great beer. As Brisbane’s thirst for better beer has continued to grow, so have the quantity and quality of venues offering good beer, and so has Brewsvegas. Now in its second year, some 65 venues will celebrate Brewsvegas with some 120 events for the week. Continue Reading
Bacchus Brewery Cellar Door
Well I’ve got to rave about this, being a Redlander and beer lover, having one of Australia’s best craft breweries a stones throw from my base. Funny enough about 25 years ago I used to have beers in just about in the same spot as where Bacchus Brewing Co is now, when it was a dual screen Drive-In Theatre. Now I get the opportunity to do it again, but now with a better selection of beers and i don’t have to sneak them down. Over the back fence of the brewery was one of last of the Redlands turf farms. (Possibly ideas for a few heritage brews names).
I’ve been buying home brew stuff from Craftbrewer (Bacchus Brewing Co sister company) for a few years and had a few testers from what they had on tap, as well. I was envious when seeing inner city Brisbane bars having Bacchus Beers on tap and finding it hard to travel over Tingalpa Creek to go to the big smoke in hope there was still beer in the keg. So after hearing from the crew at Bacchus a while back that they planned on kicking off a bar my hunt for the Bacchus Brew was made a lot easier.

TLBCo Breaking the Cardinal Rule
This is a Belgian style IPA Tripel
Pours a slightly cloudy orange golden colour with not a very big head and good carbonation. A clever blend of hops gives this beer a nice spicy, grapefruit, passion fruit apricot Aroma. Flavours evident are the fresh sweetness of pineapple and passion fruit from the hops complementing the malt.
An enjoyable sweet flavoured Belgian IPA. Highly rated in my books and I’ll have to get a few more from the brewery when my source is in that neck of the woods again as bottled supplies in Brisbane dried up pretty quick as it being a limited release.
Yet another bottle with great artwork!
